Description

MDF is a multi-country private sector development program funded by the Australian Government, currently operating in Fiji, Timor-Leste and Pakistan. It responds to the very low level of private sector activity and economic growth in these countries. MDF partners directly with local businesses to overcome constraints in market chains to stimulate growth. MDF’s goal is to create additional employment and income for poor women and men in rural and urban areas through sustainable and broad-based pro-poor growth. In Timor-Leste, MDF will aim to create 800 additional Full Time Equivalent (FTE) jobs and increase incomes for 9,000 small farms and firms, relevant for improving the livelihoods of 10,600 women, men and children. To achieve this, MDF stimulates growth in sectors that represent a major part of the economy, have long-term growth prospects and are relevant for poverty reduction.
